One of the Corvette hobby’s most noteworthy finds this year has been the discovery of a ‘65 Coupe known as the Suisse Racer. The car is wrapped in the aura of a mysterious past, one linked to Chevrolet’s backdoor support of high-performance and racing activities of the early-to-mid 1960s. Let’s begin with some history most Vette devotees can agree on. General Motors placed a ban on factory-sponsored racing in March of 1963.

2008 Chevrolet Tahoe to get 6.2-liter V-8 engine option Chevrolet ’s Tahoe is joining its GMC and Cadillac GMT900 platform mates in offering GM’s 6.2-liter V-8 as an engine option for the 2008 model year. It is now the most powerful engine available for the Tahoe. The engine, which will be offered for the 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe LTZ trim package, is only available for two-wheel-drive models and is rated at 380 horsepower and 417 lb-ft of torque.

Built upon a mundane Chevrolet tilt cab chassis, the Turbo Titan III was Chevy s third experiment with a gas turbine-powered truck, but the first actively shown to the public. Perhaps that s why designers labored over its appearance. A sloped fiberglass cab teetered over the front axle, sporting large air intakes and a chiseled front fascia. Windows opened upwards, revealing twin dials in lieu of the steering wheel.

Chevrolet resurrected the Malibu nameplate in 1997 for its Corsica replacement, but the car was destined for rental fleets from the moment it rolled off the assembly line. Would Toyota Camry and Honda Accord buyers have cross-shopped the Malibu? That was about as likely as GM vice-chairman Bob Lutz cross-dressing for a press conference. The all-new Malibu is competitive enough that Lutz should consider fancy dress to celebrate his achievement.

As with the Escalade hybrid and the Chevrolet Tahoe hybrid (which we recently tested and generally enjoyed), the Silverado hybrid is a full (two-mode) hybrid. As such, it is able to get on with electric power up to 30 mph or gasoline or a combination of both.

In a partnership announced today involving two of the world’s most powerful brands, Chevrolet and the Walt Disney Company, Disney will participate in Chevrolet’s Project Driveway, the world’s largest fuel cell vehicle test. Beginning in January, Disney will take delivery of 10 zero-gas, zero-emission Chevrolet Equinox Fuel Cell vehicles and use them to shuttle Disney employees, celebrity talent and others within Disney-owned facilities in Southern California.
