Chevrolet closes 2007 with a new sales record
In Central and Eastern Europe, Chevrolet sold a total of 288,000 vehicles, 53 percent more than in 2006. The Russian market was particularly strong with sales of 189,500 vehicles, an increase of 70 percent over last year. Chevrolet has been the number one non-domestic brand in Russia since May 2007, with a market share of 7.0 percent, up from 5.5 percent a year ago. In Ukraine, Chevrolet recorded sales of 46,500 vehicles, an increase of 31 percent over 2006.
Romanian sales also grew 72 percent to 13,300 unit sales in 2007. Since production started in Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan in the second half of 2007, sales in these new markets jumped from 1,230 to 5,000 in 2007. In Western Europe, sales also grew at a strong rate of almost 10 percent. The largest market for Chevrolet is Italy with sales growth of 21 percent to 44,900 vehicles in 2007.
Italy is also Chevrolet’s biggest market for LPG vehicles (Liquefied Petroleum Gas), which accounted for around 50 percent of Chevrolet sales in the country. 2007 was also another exceptional year for Chevrolet in the United Kingdom. Compared to 2006, sales increased 28 percent to 18,360. France realized sales of 8,820 vehicles in 2007, up 17 percent from 2006.
