Readers of The Star Press recently commented on the demolition of the smokestack at the former Chevrolet plant in e-mails: “I was employed at the Muncie transmission plant for over 30 years, retiring from the human resources department. There is so much history there. Generation after generation was employed at that location. An individual would hire in and then his child and then grandchild who also be employed. It is really a sad day to see the end of such a great place to be employed.
